Makeup that doesn't melt? Vanessa Rozan tests products in 30ºC heat
Vanessa Rozan left home at 10am for her ballet class. She walked there in the 30ºC sun. She spent the rest of the day working indoors and, in the evening, did some shopping at the supermarket. The make-up she applied in the morning, however, remained almost intact at the end of the day. Heat-resistant make-up is the subject of this Tuesday's (23rd) episode of the Beauty Lab program on Universa's social networks.
The TV presenter, make-up artist and researcher tests seven products that have a reputation for being resistant and long-lasting, including primer, blush, concealer, foundation, mascara and make-up fixer (see below).
Regardless of the brand, the expert shares a tip for those who want to make their makeup last longer on their skin: don't touch your face too often. "Long-lasting or waterproof make-up usually resists perspiration or excess oil, but it won't resist if you rub your skin," Vanessa warns.
But how do you remove excess perspiration throughout the day? It's simple: just dab your skin with a tissue or napkin, says the make-up artist. The paper absorbs the sweat and removes very little make-up. In the case of oiliness, she says it's worth investing in specific oil-absorbing wipes.
After just over 12 hours of makeup, one product definitely didn't leave Vanessa's face: blush. The mascara also remained intact.
"We have an oil production in our skin that has been controlled to a certain extent. The foundation, on the nose, on the front of the face, came off a little, concealer also came off a little. The only thing that remained was foundation, perhaps in the places where we have less contact with our hands, where we naturally end up rubbing our nose and eyes. Blush and mascara were intact," she sums up.
Vanessa points out that retouching helps maintain the quality of the make-up throughout the day. "But I think it was a good test and I think the products are, in fact, long-lasting, because we're talking about more than 12 hours and they performed very well for more than 30 degrees, and I exercised throughout the day, I worked, I moved around, I've just come back from the market, it's 10.30pm."
If she wanted to maintain a more matte complexion, the expert says she would invest in a primer and foundation with a matte finish, to guarantee an effect with less visible oiliness throughout the day. "But in my opinion, all the products are approved."
